Park Tips: Security, Lockers, Re-Entry

Every bag is screened at the gate, and anything larger than 56×36×23 cm gets turned away. Beyond the size limit, a short list of banned items catches out first-time visitors more than anything else about the day. This page covers what actually happens at security, where to store what you cannot carry, and the practical rules — re-entry, strollers, language — that shape the rest of the visit.

What can’t you bring in?

Bags, boxes or luggage over 56×36×23 cm are refused, and so is any wheeled luggage at all, regardless of size — that includes luggage wagons, trailers and stroller-suitcases. The rest of the official list:

• Knives and weapons, including toy weapons and water guns
• Explosive or flammable items, and alcohol
• Cans and glass containers (small ones like baby food are fine)
• Drones and other remote-control devices
• Professional camera gear: tripods, extending monoposts, lighting equipment
• Folding chairs and stools
• Roller skates, shoes with built-in wheels, skateboards, scooters
• Animals, other than leashed service dogs

Food and drink for your own consumption is allowed, a change made in 2019 — the food guide covers what does and doesn’t get through on that front. Bring your original passport or ID rather than a copy or a phone photo; it gets scanned at the gate and copies are not accepted.

Where do you store what won’t fit through security?

Day-use lockers exist inside the park, in a few sizes, first-come first-served. The resort does not publish an official price; traveller reports put it at roughly ¥50 for a small locker and ¥70 for a large one. A handful of free lockers sit at Camp Discovery in Adventure Isle, but they only hold your things for the length of that one attraction, not the whole day.

For anything too big to bring in at all — a suitcase, mainly — there are two separate services:

• Luggage Storage at the Main Entrance, on the east side of the security checkpoint, open to any guest.
• A second Luggage Storage at the West Gate of Wishing Star Park, for resort hotel guests: drop a bag before check-in and it’s sent to your room, or leave it at the front desk at checkout and collect it here on your way out.

There is no official storage at the Disney Resort metro station itself — only the two services above, both tied to the park or the hotels.

Can you leave and come back the same day?

Yes, without limit. The official FAQ is explicit: a park ticket allows entry and exit as many times as you like during that day’s operating hours. That makes a midday break realistic — lunch in Disneytown, a rest at a nearby hotel, then back in for the evening show — without paying for a second ticket. Security screening happens again on every re-entry, so budget a few minutes for it.

What about your own stroller?

Your own stroller is fine up to 110 cm long and 85 cm wide, fully extended with all accessories. Stroller wagons, trailers and stroller-suitcases have been turned away since 30 June 2023 — this is the rule that catches out the most families, since those are exactly the models people buy for a full theme-park day. How much English do you actually need?

Signage is bilingual throughout the park, in Mandarin and English, and restaurant menus carry English with photos, so getting around is not the issue. Where it thins out is content rather than navigation: shows and ride narration run in Mandarin, and cast members generally know basic English phrases rather than fluent conversation. The official resort app fills most of the gap — live wait times, a GPS map and your digital ticket all display in English.

Payment follows the same pattern as everywhere else in mainland China: Alipay and WeChat Pay do almost all the work, and cash is accepted in only limited places. Set up a mobile wallet before you fly — full steps in the payments guide.

Before you go: the short list

• Pack nothing over 56×36×23 cm, and leave wheeled luggage at the hotel.
• Carry your original passport, not a copy.
• Budget roughly ¥50–70 if you plan to use a locker, in cash or via Alipay/WeChat Pay.
• One ticket covers the whole day, in and out, so don’t hesitate to leave for lunch.
